Child's Daybed
A Child's Daybed - Making The Right Investment
Choosing A Daybed That Can Stand The Abuse
Since kids will be kids, choosing a daybed that can handle the rough treatment is important. Although boys tend to be rougher than girls, that is not always the case.
A child's daybed (or any other type of bed) needs to be chosen well since children are not always concerned with how they treat things.
As a tomboy, I used to like to run into my bedroom and jump on my bed. Why, I don't know, but I did. And I'm sure my mother cringed (and yelled!) everytime I did it. After all, I managed to break 2 wooden slats in a relatively short period of time by doing this. My sister, on the other hand, never did anything like that, so the slats on her bed lasted as long as the bed did.
Tomboys and Monkeys
When selecting a bed for a tomboy, you'd do well to go with a girls white wood daybed instead of a wicker bed. A wood bed will stand up better to silliness or dancing on the bed than a wicker bed will. Canopies are great for little girls also but if yours is a monkey who likes to swing or has dreams of being a gymnast, you probably don't want to go with a canopy. However, if your daughter is more sedate, the canopy would be perfect as it goes a long way towards enhancing the beauty of the room.
Great for boys would be the under bed storage trundle. While the white version of this would look nice in a girl's room, this is probably more of a boy's style as these are wood daybeds and would fit better with the decor in a boy's room. Iron might be the best kind of bed for a boy's rough and tumble, but wood is a perfect second best.
Bedskirts and Late-Night Talking
By having the trundle bed stored in a drawer under the bed, there is no need for a bedskirt to hide the trundle bed. These do not have the ability to raise to the level of the daybed so this option will always be 2 twin beds and not a king-size bed. But late-night talking works just as well this way for kids.
If you buy specially designed children daybed comforters, you and your child will both be much happier. You can know you have purchased a product designed for children's use and your children will not need to be so concerned about damaging the comforter. Buy something not designed for children and you're all likely to regret it pretty quickly! Manufacturers know when special products need to be provided and comforters for your child's daybed are one such item.
