Decorating With Daybeds With Trundle Units

3 Common Problems You Might Face When Arranging Your Room

If you're buying one of the daybeds with trundle units and putting it in a smaller room, there are several things you need to avoid in order to make things work smoothly.  While these may seem like common sense, if you forget one of them ...

Unable To Easily Pull The Trundle Unit Out

If possible, leave enough floor space in front of the daybed so that you can easily pull out the trundle unit without having to move any furniture or other items out of the way.  While this is not always possible, it should be your first consideration.

By choosing an attractive rug that coordinates with your carpet or hardwood flooring tone as well as the daybed ensemble you have selected, the empty floorspace in front of the bed will seem natural and not appear as "deadspace".  It will also give the room a more open and welcome feel.  If pulling out the trundle bed is made tedious because of lack of space, you will end up not using the bed and will have lost its most valuable feature.

Heavy Furniture In The Way

Since your room will most likely have other furniture in it besides your new daybed, make sure that all heavy furniture is placed along the walls and does not get in the way of opening up the trundle unit.

Using a measuring tape, pencil and paper, "place" your furniture where it currently is and then "move" it around to see what works best with the addition of the daybed. Be sure to take into account things you cannot change like windows, doors that open into the room, and closets, as well as things you can "fix" such as lighting and electrical outlets.  By doing this all on paper first, you will eliminate a lot of headaches and backaches since you'll only need to physically move furniture once.

Too Much Furniture

If necessary, move a piece of furniture out of the room or switch pieces from one room to another.  For instance, if the dresser you have in the room is too large, consider moving it out entirely, moving it into a walk-in closet to be used for sweaters and folded clothes, or even moving it to the garage for extra storage.  If you're re-doing the room anyway, be creative and see how different you can make it by just making a few changes.

Look at the whole room and see what changes can or should be made before ordering your daybed.  Then when your delivery arrives, you can easily set it up and add the day bed comforter set for the finishing touch.  It will be just as you had envisioned and you'll be able to enjoy it from Day One.
