Oak Trundle Bed

The Oak Trundle Bed Then and Now

Elegant Yet Sturdy - 100 Years In The Making

The historical definition of a trundle bed, which in olden times was often known as a truckle bed, described it as a low bed which was often to be found on casters and which could then be pushed up under the master's bed when not being used.

These beds were used by servants who would sleep in their employer's room so that they could be at hand when needed.

In most cases these trundle beds were made from oak and the suspension inside them was provided by canvas straps which were then looped through holes on either side of the bed.

Looking Good Today ...

But just because the oak trundle bed was useful years ago, is it still something we would want to use today?  You bet it is!

Cost Efficient - Because oak has a slower growing cycle than most other woods, you will find that the wood is much denser and so it makes it more durable providing you with years of enjoyment.

Great For Kids - While trundle beds which are made using veneers and plywood are likely to become separated over time, the oak trundle bed is much more resilient as well as being more stable.

Lasting Beauty - Each piece of wood used in an oak trundle bed is methodically processed to ensure that the finish is smooth and will be maintenance free while protecting the natural beauty of the wood.

Consistent Color - Since oak is not prone to discoloration or variations, you can be assured when ordering your daybed online that your bed will look just as good in your home as it did on the website.

Oak is a very stable wood and it will be able to withstand the test of time ... which includes anything you and your family are likely to throw at it, thus making it a much more cost efficient choice for a day bed for your home.
